EGADI ISLANDS - FAVIGNANA

Favignana has only one inhabited center that takes its name from the island. Once, the main activity was that of tuna fishing (near the port, you can still see the large tuna trap now in disuse) which was performed with precise rituals and timing. Today, even if more for tradition than for necessity, the mattanza is repeated in spring offering a spectacle of rare cruelty and intensity.
