Fisherman's Appetizer on Homemade Calabrian Bread
L'Fisherman's Appetizer is a mix of seafood and fish preserved in olive oil, typical of Calabrian seafood tradition. Served on slices of homemade bread from Calabria baked in a wood-fired oven, it becomes a quick, flavorful and deeply authentic dinner. Also perfect as an appetizer for a dinner party.
Ingredients
- 200 g of Antipasto del Pescatore in olive oil
- 4-6 slices of homemade Calabrian bread
- 2 tablespoons of Calabrian extra virgin olive oil
- 1 clove of garlic
- Fresh parsley to taste.
- Calabrian chili pepper q.b.
- Juice of half a lemon
Proceedings
- Toast slices of homemade bread in the oven or on a grill until golden brown.
- Rub each slice with the garlic clove cut in half.
- Drain the Fisherman's Antipasto from excess oil.
- Spread the fish mixture on the bread slices.
- Season with a drizzle of EVO oil, chopped parsley, chili pepper and a few drops of lemon.
- Serve immediately.
Tips
You can enrich the dish with a few desalted capers or Calabrian black olives for even more flavor. Homemade Calabrian wood-fired bread is essential: its crispy crust and firm crumbs hold up the seasoning perfectly.
