Description
Dried figs with dark chocolate are one of the most beloved Christmas desserts in the Calabrian tradition. Cosenza figs, renowned throughout Italy for their sweetness and quality, are stuffed with walnuts and orange zest, then covered in high-quality dark chocolate. A perfect combination of the fig's natural sweetness and the intensity of cocoa, a mouthwatering and authentic gift.
Ingredients
- 300g dried Calabrian figs from Cosenza, Italy
- 200g 70% dark chocolate
- 50g shelled walnuts
- Peel of 1 organic orange
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- Pistachio granules to taste for decoration
Preparation
- Open each dried fig in half without separating it completely and insert a piece of walnut and some orange zest. Close and press down lightly.
- Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Dip each fig into melted chocolate, allow excess to drain off and lay on baking paper.
- Decorate with chopped pistachios before the chocolate solidifies. Let cool at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
